Similarweb Review 2026

What Similarweb's self-serve plans cost in US dollars, what one seat gets you for competitor research, and when Semrush, Ahrefs, SE Ranking or Moz Pro is the cheaper invoice.

TL;DR

Short answer: Similarweb is worth paying for when you need to see how a rival's traffic and channel mix are moving, and a poor buy when keywords are the job. The entry Competitive Intelligence plan costs $125 a month billed annually for one seat with three months of history. Semrush's SEO plan, SE Ranking Core and Moz Pro Standard cover keyword and audit work for less, at $117.33, $103.20 and $79 a month billed annually.

Plans that add SEO and AI visibility start at $333 a month billed annually. Every self-serve plan includes one seat, so the real choice is between one analyst on Similarweb and a team on a cheaper keyword suite.

Pros

  • The entry plan billed annually covers traffic, channels, demographics and competitor alerts, the core of a rival review.
  • The middle plan adds keyword research, a rank tracker, site audit and backlinks, plus 150 tracked AI prompts, in one login.
  • Business packages add up to 37 months of history, 100+ countries, API and MCP access, and single sign-on.

Cons

  • Every self-serve plan includes one user seat, so a team of three pays for three subscriptions or moves to a quote.

Similarweb answers the three questions a competitor review starts with: how much traffic does a rival get, where does it come from, and is it growing. The price is harder to read.

Its self-serve plans are built for one person, the entry tier leaves out SEO entirely, and the tier that adds SEO costs about twice what Semrush's Starter tier does on annual billing.

This review reads Similarweb's plan limits and fine print against the four keyword suites buyers usually put beside it.

Toolradar data: Similarweb holds 1,969 reviews across G2, Capterra and SourceForge, averaging 4.5 out of 5, and our directory lists six direct alternatives to it.

Its profile is on Toolradar, and the wider AI search visibility tools roundup covers the AI side in more depth.

Methodology: Similarweb's plans were read from its own pricing page on October 10, 2026, in US dollars as printed.

The keyword tools' prices come from their own pricing pages on the same day: Semrush, Ahrefs, SE Ranking and Moz.

We compared plan limits and fine print, and did not run the data side by side. The Toolradar rating was last checked on September 17, 2026.

What is Similarweb?

Similarweb is a web intelligence platform that estimates traffic, engagement, audience demographics and marketing channel mix for sites it does not own. Its plans sell that data in four levels: Competitive Intelligence, Competitive Intel with SEO and AEO, the same with ad intelligence added, and a custom business package.

The newest layer is AEO.

The middle plan tracks 150 AI prompts and reports brand visibility, sentiment, citations and AI traffic. Semrush's Starter tier tracks 50 prompts a day, so the two limits count differently. Read them as different units, not as a head-to-head number.

For the wider brand side of that question, see the brand monitoring tools roundup.

How Similarweb works

A typical week for a growth marketer starts with a rival's traffic and engagement view, then the marketing channel overview, then the competitor alerts that flag a sudden change in visits.

That traffic and channel view is the reason to pay. It shows where a competitor's visits come from, which a keyword tool cannot tell you.

The SEO tools work differently. Keyword research, the rank tracker, the site audit and backlinks sit in the middle plan, which keeps six months of history against three on the entry plan.

A campaign planner who wants to see which channel a rival leaned on last quarter needs that longer window before buying.

Keyword-first buyers should read the Ahrefs vs Semrush comparison instead, since it stays on keywords and backlinks.

The top tier adds ad intelligence: creative and campaign insights, search, display and social ad data, advertiser demand signals and ad spend.

For a paid team that moves budget between channels, that tier is the only part of the range worth a close look.

Similarweb key features

Traffic and channel view for rivalsEssential
Traffic and engagement, customer demographics, the marketing channel overview and competitor alerts come with the entry plan, so the core rival review is covered on the cheapest paid tier.
SEO and AI visibility in the middle plan
Keyword research, the rank tracker, site audit with backlinks, and AI brand visibility, sentiment, citations and AI traffic reports, with 150 tracked AI prompts on the middle plan.
One seat per self-serve plan
Every self-serve tier lists one user seat. A three-person team either buys three subscriptions or moves to a business package that is priced by quote.
History depth by tier
Three months of historical data on the entry plan, six months on the middle and ad plans, and up to 37 months on business packages. Trend questions need the longer window, so the cheap tier answers only this quarter's question.
Ad intelligence on the top self-serve tier
Creative and campaign insights, search, display and social ad insights, advertiser demand signals and ad spend data, all on the top self-serve plan.

Similarweb pricing

Similarweb publishes its self-serve prices in US dollars on its pricing page. Competitive Intelligence is $125 a month billed annually or $199 billed monthly. Competitive Intel with SEO and AEO is $333 billed annually or $399 monthly.

The ads plan is $542 billed annually or $649 monthly. On the entry plan alone, monthly billing costs $888 more a year than annual billing, which is the number to weigh before you sign.

The fine print matters as much as the list price.

Switching to annual billing means opening a support ticket. The pricing FAQ says entrepreneur plans cancel from the subscription page and stop renewing at the end of the billing period, while business packages end on the terms of the contract.

Similarweb's pricing page publishes no trial length.

Semrush is the nearest price neighbor. Its SEO plan is $139 a month or $117.33 billed annually for five websites and 500 daily keywords, and Starter adds 50 AI prompts a day for $165.17 billed annually.

Semrush's Toolradar profile lists the same suite. Ahrefs lists $129, $249 and $449 a month for Lite, Standard and Advanced, and says annual payment saves up to 17%, with the detail in our Ahrefs pricing guide.

SE Ranking's Core plan is $103.20 billed annually, and Moz Pro Standard is $99 a month or $79 billed yearly. SpyFu and Semrush's Traffic & Market toolkit are also alternatives, and their prices are not covered here.

Similarweb pros and cons

What we like

  • The entry plan billed annually covers traffic, channels, demographics and competitor alerts, the core of a rival review.
  • The middle plan adds keyword research, a rank tracker, site audit and backlinks, plus 150 tracked AI prompts, in one login.
  • Business packages add up to 37 months of history, 100+ countries, API and MCP access, and single sign-on.

What could be better

  • Every self-serve plan includes one user seat, so a team of three pays for three subscriptions or moves to a quote.
  • The entry plan has three months of history and no SEO or AI visibility tools.
  • The pricing page publishes no numeric free quota, and it describes free data as a high-level sample.

Who Similarweb is for

Similarweb fits a growth, content or paid team that reviews competitors every week and needs traffic and channel answers more than keyword lists. A solo analyst or a small agency running client competitor reviews can get by on the middle plan.

A paid team that moves budget between channels has the clearest case for the top tier.

Skip it if your main job is keyword research, rank tracking and technical audits.

SE Ranking Core and Semrush's SEO plan do that work for less than the middle Similarweb plan, and the best AI SEO tools guide sorts the options by job. Skip it too if you need several people on one budget: three subscriptions at the entry price come to $375 a month before any business quote.

For content scoring rather than competitor data, the content optimization tools roundup is the better starting point. For AI visibility as the main job rather than a bundled feature, the Peec AI review covers that category directly.

The bottom line

Buy Similarweb's middle plan when rival traffic and AI visibility both feed the same budget decision. Add the top tier only when ad spend data is part of that decision. Buy the entry plan when one person needs only the traffic and channel view and can live with three months of history.

Pick Semrush's SEO plan, SE Ranking Core or Moz Pro Standard when keyword research and audits are the job.

Similarweb earns its price when a shift in rivals' traffic or channel mix changes where budget goes, not in a weekly keyword check.

Check the trial length with Similarweb before you commit to an annual term.

Frequently asked questions

Is Similarweb worth it in 2026?
For a team that reviews competitors' traffic and channel mix often, yes. The entry plan covers one seat with traffic, channels, demographics and competitor alerts. It is a poor buy for keyword research alone, because the entry plan has no SEO tools and Semrush's SEO plan is cheaper on annual billing. If you need SEO and AI visibility in one login, check the middle plan.
How much does Similarweb cost?
Competitive Intelligence costs $125 a month billed annually or $199 monthly. Competitive Intel with SEO and AEO costs $333 billed annually or $399 monthly. The top self-serve plan, which adds ad intelligence, is $542 billed annually or $649 monthly. Business packages are custom quotes. Similarweb's pricing page was checked on October 10, 2026, and lists its self-serve prices in US dollars.
Is there a free Similarweb plan?
Similarweb offers free data on its site, which its own pricing FAQ calls a high-level sample. It publishes no numeric free quota. Self-serve plans offer a free trial, but its pricing page gives no trial length. Semrush's Free plan at $0 and Ahrefs Free for site owners are the free options in the keyword-tool set.
Is Similarweb cheaper than Semrush?
Only against Semrush's Starter tier and above. Similarweb's entry plan sits above Semrush's SEO plan on annual billing, so it is not the cheaper keyword tool. Its SEO and AEO plan costs about twice Semrush's Starter tier on annual billing, and Starter adds 50 AI prompts a day. The two tools answer different questions, so the question you need answered matters more than the price gap.
What are the best Similarweb alternatives?
For keyword research and audits, Semrush's SEO plan, SE Ranking Core and Moz Pro Standard each cost less than Similarweb's entry plan on annual billing. For backlink and keyword data, Ahrefs Standard includes 2,000 tracked keywords and 500,000 crawl credits. SpyFu and Semrush's Traffic & Market toolkit are also alternatives, and their prices are not covered here.
Does Similarweb data match Google Analytics?
Expect differences, because Similarweb estimates traffic. Its own FAQ says its data can differ from Google Analytics and links an article that explains the gap. Use Similarweb to compare rivals with each other and to spot trends. Use your own analytics for your site's exact numbers.
