TL;DR

Metricool is worth it in 2026 for freelancers and small agencies that manage several brands, because it prices by brand, not by channel or seat. Starter costs $20 a month billed yearly ($25 monthly) for up to 5 brands, and Advanced starts at $53 a month billed yearly for 15 brands with team roles and post approval.

The free plan is real but narrow: one brand, 20 scheduled posts a month, 30 days of analytics and no LinkedIn or X. On paid plans, X costs an extra $10 a month per connected account, which can double a small agency's bill. Prices were read on Metricool's pricing page in October 2026.

Metricool combines a social media planner, analytics, reporting, an inbox, comment-to-DM automation and ad dashboards for Facebook, Google and TikTok ads. Its pricing unit is the brand: one brand bundles a company's Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest, Threads, Bluesky, LinkedIn and Google Business Profile accounts. For an agency with many small clients, that unit is the reason to look at it, because adding a network to an existing client costs nothing extra.

Toolradar data: Toolradar, the software directory we run, tracks 156 social media management tools as of October 17, 2026, and the median cheapest paid plan across the 47 that publish a price is $20.52 a month. Metricool's Starter, billed yearly, sits right at that median while covering five brands. Its Toolradar profile shows a 4.4 rating from 102 G2 reviews and lists it as an alternative to 20 tools (social media management ranking).

MarketingShot data: MarketingShot reached 35,000+ marketers on October 18, 2026, with a 32% average open rate. A reader who runs social for several clients is the buyer this review is written for.

Methodology: plan limits and USD prices were read on Metricool's pricing page and help center, and rival prices on each vendor's own pricing page, in October 2026. This review includes no hands-on test.

What is Metricool?

Metricool is a social media management platform for planning, publishing, analyzing and reporting across most major networks from one calendar. Plans scale by the number of brands, and each brand can connect one profile per network. That makes the price predictable for a client roster and generous for a single company with many networks.

Two networks break that simple model. LinkedIn is not available on the free plan, and X (Twitter) requires a paid add-on on every plan, priced per connected account. Unlimited posting on paid plans is subject to Metricool's fair use policy, which the pricing page flags with an asterisk.

How Metricool works

Day to day, the planner is the core: a shared calendar with best-time suggestions, auto-lists for recurring content, a post library, an image and video editor, and Canva, Google Drive and Adobe Express integrations. Advanced adds the post approval system and role management that agencies need before a client signs off a post.

Analytics keep 30 days of metrics on Free and unlimited history on paid plans. Starter analyzes up to 100 competitors and exports PDF and PPT reports, while Advanced adds customizable report templates, complete X analytics and a Data Studio connector. Campaign dashboards are capped at three on the plan; the Advanced Analytics add-on unlocks unlimited dashboards and Metricool Studio.

Comment-to-DM flows, keyword replies to DMs and story-reply automations are listed at no extra cost for a limited time, so budget for them becoming paid later. For a free starting point on scheduling alone, compare our free social media schedulers.

  • Paid plans keep unlimited analytics history and analyze up to 100 competitors.
  • Advanced adds post approval, role management and a Data Studio connector for agencies.

What could be better

  • Free excludes LinkedIn and X and caps scheduling at 20 posts a month.

Who Metricool is for

Metricool suits freelancers and small agencies that publish for several brands and want analytics and client reports in the same tool. Five brands on Starter billed yearly cost less than Hootsuite or Agorapulse charge for one user, and the approval workflow on Advanced covers client sign-off.

Skip it if X is your main channel, because each X account adds a monthly add-on fee. Skip it too if you need social listening across the web or a shared team inbox priced per seat; Hootsuite and Agorapulse are built for that, at a per-user price.

The bottom line

Buy Metricool Starter on yearly billing if you publish for up to five brands, want analytics and PDF reports in the same login, and X is not central to your clients. Move to Advanced when a client needs approval workflows or you pass ten brands.

Choose Buffer (Toolradar profile) for three or four channels of your own, Later for visual planning, and Hootsuite (Toolradar profile) or Agorapulse when a team needs a shared inbox and listening at a per-user price. More options are in the social media management guide, the Buffer review, Later alternatives, Hootsuite alternatives and Hootsuite vs Buffer. Our method is on how we rate.

Frequently asked questions

Is Metricool worth it in 2026?

Yes for freelancers and small agencies managing several brands, because Starter covers five brands for one price and keeps unlimited analytics history. It is less attractive if X is a main channel, since each X account adds a monthly add-on, or if you need web-wide social listening.

How much does Metricool cost?

On Metricool's pricing page in October 2026, Starter costs $20 a month billed yearly or $25 monthly for 5 brands, and $36 billed yearly for 10 brands. Advanced starts at $53 a month billed yearly for 15 brands and reaches $159 for 50. Custom plans are quoted. Prices exclude VAT.

Is Metricool's free plan enough?

For one brand posting a few times a week, yes. Free covers one brand, 20 scheduled posts a month, 5 competitor profiles and 30 days of analytics. It excludes LinkedIn and X, so a B2B brand that relies on LinkedIn needs Starter.

Does Metricool charge extra for X (Twitter)?

Yes. Metricool's help center prices the X add-on at $10 a month, or $120 a year, per connected X account, and it is available on Starter and higher. Five brands with X accounts therefore add $600 a year to the plan price.

Metricool vs Buffer: which is cheaper?

Buffer is cheaper for a few channels: Essentials is $5 a month per channel billed yearly, and its free plan connects 3 channels. Metricool is cheaper for a client roster, because Starter's yearly price covers five brands with one profile per network each, which on Buffer would mean paying for every channel.
