Surfer SEO Pricing 2026: Discovery to Peace of Mind Explained

Surfer SEO costs $49/mo billed yearly on Discovery, $99 on Standard, $182 on Pro and $299 on Peace of Mind in 2026. Monthly rates, seats, limits and team costs.

Surfer SEO Pricing 2026: Discovery to Peace of Mind Explained

Surfer SEO costs $49 a month on Discovery, $99 on Standard, $182 on Pro and $299 on Peace of Mind in 2026, all billed yearly. Paying month to month raises those four to $59, $119, $219 and $359. A separate AI Search Analytics plan is $82 a month billed yearly, and Enterprise is quoted.

The plan most teams should price first is Standard, because it is the cheapest plan with more than one seat and the first with any AI prompt tracking. Discovery is a one-person content editor, and the step from Standard to Pro buys tracking and planning tools rather than more documents.

Every price and limit below was read on Surfer's pricing page and its fair usage policy on 19 October 2026. Toolradar data: across the 270 SEO tools Toolradar tracks as of 19 October 2026, the median cheapest paid plan is $30.12 a month (108 tools publish one), so even Surfer's entry plan costs more than the typical SEO tool. Surfer's Toolradar profile shows it listed as an alternative to 51 other tools, the most of any Content Marketing tool there.

How much does each Surfer plan cost?

Plan Billed yearly Billed monthly Seats Documents AI prompts tracked Pages tracked
Discovery $49/mo $59/mo 1 120 None 10
Standard $99/mo $119/mo 3 360 25, weekly, ChatGPT only 50
Pro $182/mo $219/mo 5 360 50, daily, all tracked models 200
Peace of Mind $299/mo $359/mo 10 Unlimited under fair use 100, daily, all tracked models 500
AI Search Analytics $82/mo Check Surfer's site 5 None listed 50, daily, all tracked models None listed
Enterprise Custom Custom Custom Custom limits Custom Custom

Yearly billing is paid upfront for the whole year, which Surfer's FAQ says saves up to 17% against monthly payments. The yearly savings Surfer prints are $120 on Discovery, $240 on Standard, $444 on Pro, $720 on Peace of Mind and $156 on AI Search Analytics. Bank transfer is accepted only on yearly plans, cards work on both, and PayPal is not accepted.

The "all tracked models" in the prompt column are ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Mode, Google AI Overviews and Gemini, the five Surfer lists on its comparison grid. Standard tracks ChatGPT alone, which matters if your buyers search in Google's AI answers.

What does a year of Surfer cost?

The yearly bill is the monthly-equivalent rate times 12, paid on day one. On monthly billing it is the monthly rate times 12, spread across the year.

Plan Year, billed yearly Year, billed monthly Yearly cost per included seat
Discovery $588 $708 $588
Standard $1,188 $1,428 $396
Pro $2,184 $2,628 $436.80
Peace of Mind $3,588 $4,308 $358.80

Peace of Mind is the cheapest Surfer plan per seat, at under $30 a month per included seat on yearly billing, because its price does not quite double from Pro while its seat count does. Pro is the most expensive per seat, since it adds two seats over Standard but charges for daily prompt tracking, internal linking and the cannibalization report rather than for headcount.

Surfer's pricing page lists no price for an extra seat, so on the published lineup a team grows by moving up a tier: a second writer on Discovery means Standard.

Which plan fits which buyer?

Discovery: one writer optimizing drafts

Discovery covers the content editor, the Content Score, Surfy (Surfer's AI writing assistant), the AI detector and humanizer, and 10 tracked pages. It has no AI prompt tracking at all, so it suits a freelancer or a founder who writes the blog and only wants on-page guidance. Anyone who needs a second login or wants to see whether ChatGPT mentions the brand is already shopping for Standard.

Standard: the small content team

Standard triples the document allowance, adds two seats and 25 ChatGPT prompts refreshed weekly, and its plan card lists team collaboration, a plagiarism checker and rank drop detection. For a team of two or three writers that is the best value in the lineup, at $33 a month per seat billed yearly. The weekly refresh and the ChatGPT-only scope make its AI tracking a sample rather than a monitor.

Pro: the plan for SEO leads, not for more writing

Pro keeps the same 360 documents as Standard. What the higher price buys is 200 tracked pages, 50 prompts refreshed daily across all five AI models, five brand workspaces, internal linking, content ideas and coverage gaps, custom templates and the cannibalization report. If the team's bottleneck is document volume, Pro does not fix it; only Peace of Mind raises the document cap.

Peace of Mind: volume and API access

Peace of Mind adds unlimited documents, 500 tracked pages, 100 daily prompts, 10 seats, advanced SERP analysis, API access, personalized onboarding and a dedicated success manager. "Unlimited" has a ceiling: the fair usage policy sets Peace of Mind documents at 500 a month on monthly billing and 6,000 a year on yearly billing. An agency publishing more than 500 optimized pieces a month should raise that with Surfer before it signs.

AI Search Analytics: tracking without the editor

AI Search Analytics is a standalone visibility tracker: 50 daily prompts across the five models, mention gap and brand sentiment reports, five brand spaces and MCP access. It lists no document allowance, so it is for a brand or PR team that wants to watch AI answers without writing in Surfer. A team that also writes content gets the same 50 daily prompts inside Pro.

Limits and costs to check before you buy

  • Credits reset once a year on yearly plans. Surfer's FAQ says annual credits reset yearly or when you change plan, so a team that burns its documents in a spring push cannot wait for next month.
  • The Humanizer has a word cap. Fair use allows 50,000 words a month on monthly plans and 600,000 a year on yearly plans.
  • Daily caps apply to "unlimited" tools. One-click optimization, internal linking, keyword research, Topical Map and the SERP Analyzer each stop at 100 uses a day; audits stop at 100 a month on monthly billing.
  • Cancelling stops renewal, not access. Plans renew automatically, and turning renewal off keeps the account open until the paid period ends. On a yearly plan, decide before the renewal date, because the whole next year is charged upfront.
  • Older price lists are out of date. Many guides still quote Surfer's Essential and Scale plans, which no longer appear on the pricing page. Budget from the five current plans above.

Surfer vs Clearscope vs Frase on price

Clearscope and Frase are two direct rivals in content optimization, and both publish full price lists, read on Clearscope's pricing page and Frase's pricing page on 19 October 2026. The table compares monthly billing with monthly billing, because Clearscope sells its public plans month to month.

Team Surfer (monthly billing) Clearscope (monthly) Frase (monthly billing)
1 writer Discovery $59 Essentials $129, unlimited users Starter $49, 1 seat
3 writers Standard $119 Essentials $129 Professional $129, 3 seats
5 writers Pro $219 Essentials $129 Scale $299, 5 seats
10 writers Peace of Mind $359 Essentials $129, or Business $399 Not priced: Scale plus 5 extra seats

Surfer wins up to three writers; Clearscope wins from the fourth. Clearscope never charges per user, so a 10-person team pays $129 a month on Essentials against Surfer's $359. The catch is volume: Essentials includes 50 tracked pages and 20 drafts a month, so a large team writing a lot hits Clearscope's caps before Surfer's. Frase undercuts Surfer for a solo writer and costs more at five seats, and it adds extra seats at $29 a month each.

On yearly billing the order holds for Surfer and Frase: Frase Starter at $39 undercuts Discovery, while Standard undercuts Frase Professional at $103. Our Surfer vs Clearscope comparison works through the headcount break-even in detail, and the Clearscope review covers what its unlimited users buy.

Is Surfer worth the price?

Surfer is worth Standard for a small team that publishes several optimized articles a week and wants writers inside one shared editor. Its Content Score and one-click optimization are what you pay for, and spreading the yearly rate over three seats brings each writer to $33 a month. Our Surfer SEO review covers the editor itself.

It is harder to justify for a solo writer with occasional posts, whose Discovery bill sits well above the $30.12 median entry price across SEO tools. It is also a weak fit for a large team that mostly needs grading on drafts, where Clearscope's unlimited users cost less. Teams whose main question is AI search visibility should compare dedicated trackers in our AI visibility tools pricing guide and how to track brand mentions in ChatGPT before buying Pro for its prompts.

For the wider field, the best content optimization tools and best AI SEO tools rank Surfer against its rivals, and Semrush pricing and Ahrefs pricing price the all-in-one suites many teams already pay for.

How we priced it

We read Surfer's pricing page, its plan comparison grid and its FAQ on 19 October 2026, plus the fair usage policy in Surfer's help center the same day. Clearscope's and Frase's prices come from their own pricing pages, read the same day. Yearly totals and per-seat figures are our arithmetic on those printed rates. MarketingShot runs no test lab and holds no account with these vendors, so nothing here is a negotiated price.

FAQ

How much does Surfer SEO cost per month in 2026?

Surfer's cheapest plan, Discovery, costs $49 a month billed yearly or $59 billed monthly. Standard is $99 yearly or $119 monthly, Pro $182 or $219, and Peace of Mind $299 or $359. AI Search Analytics is $82 a month billed yearly, and Enterprise is priced on request.

Does Surfer have a free plan?

No. Surfer's pricing page lists no free plan; the cheapest paid plan is Discovery, the one-seat entry tier. Surfer does offer separate free tools and courses on its site, but they are not a free tier of the content editor.

How many users does Surfer include?

Discovery includes 1 seat, Standard 3, Pro 5 and Peace of Mind 10; AI Search Analytics includes 5. Seats come with the plan, so adding a second writer to Discovery means upgrading to Standard. Clearscope, by contrast, includes unlimited users on every plan.

Is Surfer's Peace of Mind plan really unlimited?

Not entirely. Surfer's fair usage policy caps Peace of Mind documents at 500 a month on monthly billing and 6,000 a year on yearly billing, and tools such as one-click optimization stop at 100 uses a day. For typical agency volume those caps are far away, but a high-volume publisher should confirm them before signing.

What happened to Surfer's Essential and Scale plans?

They are no longer on Surfer's pricing page. The current lineup is Discovery, Standard, Pro, Peace of Mind, AI Search Analytics and Enterprise, so any article quoting Essential or Scale prices describes plans you cannot buy today.

Is Surfer cheaper than Clearscope?

For one to three writers, yes: Surfer Standard costs $119 a month billed monthly against Clearscope Essentials at $129. From four writers up Clearscope is cheaper, because its Essentials plan has unlimited users while a fourth Surfer seat means Pro at $219 a month. Check Clearscope's 50-page and 20-draft monthly limits before switching.
