Cheaper Ahrefs Alternatives 2026: Real Costs Compared

Ranktracker Launch is $39 a month against $129 for Ahrefs Lite. Yearly costs for one user tracking 300 keywords, priced on each vendor page on 10 October 2026.

Cheaper Ahrefs Alternatives 2026: Real Costs Compared

For one user tracking up to 300 keywords on monthly list prices, Ranktracker's Launch plan is the cheapest Ahrefs alternative we could price on the vendor's own page: $39 a month, or $468 a year. Ahrefs Lite costs $1,548 a year for the same job, so the saving is $1,080. Prices were checked on vendor pages on 10 October 2026.

Ahrefs sets the price to beat, and a cheaper plan only saves money if it covers the work you hired Ahrefs to do. Every row below uses one scenario, so the arithmetic compares like with like.

Toolradar data: Toolradar tracks 253 SEO tools as of 10 October 2026. Its best SEO tools guide is the wider shelf if none of the three plans below fits your work.

The scenario and the costs

The scenario is one user on one site, up to 300 tracked keywords, monthly list prices, 12 months. Taxes and add-ons are left out.

Tool and plan Monthly list price Cost for 12 months Billed yearly Limits that matter Saving vs Ahrefs Lite a year
Ranktracker Launch $39 $468 $31.20 a month ($374.40 a year) 500 daily keyword tracks, unlimited users $1,080
Moz Pro Standard $99 $1,188 $79 a month ($948 a year) 1 user, 300 tracked keywords, 3 tracked sites $360
Ahrefs Lite $129 $1,548 Up to 17% off, no per-plan rate published 1 user, 750 tracked keywords, 100,000 crawl credits Baseline

Ranked by cost, the order is Ranktracker, Moz Pro, then Ahrefs. The monthly gap is the headline; the yearly gap is what reaches the budget. Ranktracker and Moz both state a 20% discount for yearly billing. Ahrefs says annual billing saves up to 17%, with no per-plan rate on its page, so a yearly Ahrefs figure cannot be stated from the vendor's own numbers.

Ranktracker Launch: cheapest, and the one to test first

Launch includes unlimited users and projects, 500 daily Top 100 keyword tracks, 500 monthly instant checks and 40,000 monthly data rows. Its pricing page sells tracking allowances and SERP tools and names no backlink index. If link research is the reason you pay Ahrefs, run the same domains through both tools before you cancel anything. At $39 a month, a failed trial costs less than a third of one month of Lite. If rank tracking is all you need, our best free rank trackers guide covers the no-cost options.

Moz Pro Standard: the closest on link data

Moz's pricing page says the platform tracks trillions of links, which is the claim to check against your own backlink needs. Standard covers one user, three tracked sites, 300 tracked keywords and 400K pages crawled a month. It costs $99 a month, or $79 a month billed yearly. Extra seats cost $49 a month each on any plan level. Medium, at $179 a month, adds a second user, 1,500 tracked keywords and 2 million pages crawled a month.

Ahrefs Lite: the price to beat

Lite includes five projects, six months of history, 750 tracked keywords and 100,000 crawl credits, with one user included. Two more seats cost $40 a month each. The Ahrefs pricing page sets the list prices, and our Ahrefs pricing breakdown lists every plan and add-on in full.

Ahrefs also sells a $29 a month Starter plan, which its page describes as a way to see what people search and spy on competitors. That is keyword and competitor research, not rank tracking, so it does not replace Lite in the scenario above.

Cheaper names we left out

  • LowFruits Standard costs $29.90 a month, or $20.75 billed yearly, with 3,000 credits and 100 tracked keywords. It is cheaper than all three rows in the table, but its 100-keyword cap fails the 300-keyword scenario. Its plan list names keyword, competitor and domain tools, with no backlink index among them. Toolradar keeps a LowFruits profile for readers who want the keyword-only angle.
  • Semrush and SE Ranking show euro prices on their pricing pages today, so neither has a US dollar list price in this comparison. Our Semrush review covers Semrush's tiers, and Ahrefs vs Semrush sets the two leaders side by side.
  • We could not confirm a dollar list price for the other budget tools in the category on their own pages today, so they are not ranked here. Toolradar keeps a Moz Pro profile and an Ahrefs profile for readers who want the wider list.

Which plan fits which buyer

A solo SEO working on one site should start with Ranktracker Launch if rank tracking is most of the job. Moz Standard suits a buyer who wants a platform with a link-tracking claim, at $1,188 a year, which is $360 less than Lite on monthly billing. Ahrefs Lite is the right call when you need Site Explorer history, since Lite includes six months of historical data.

An agency should compare on projects. Ahrefs Advanced caps at 50 projects and Moz Large at 25 tracked sites. Ranktracker Launch lists unlimited projects, which makes it the only plan in this comparison where project count stops being the constraint.

Three seats: where the ranking holds

The order stays the same with three seats, and the gap to Ranktracker widens. Ahrefs Lite with two extra seats at $40 each costs $209 a month, or $2,508 a year. Moz Pro Standard with two extra seats at $49 each costs $197 a month, or $2,364 a year, and it still caps at 300 tracked keywords on the plan. Ranktracker Launch stays at the same price because its users are unlimited. For a three-person team, Ranktracker Launch comes in $2,040 a year below Ahrefs Lite.

Next tier up: when 300 keywords is not enough

If you track more keywords, the saving holds at the next level. Ahrefs Standard costs $249 a month ($2,988 a year) for 2,000 tracked keywords and one user. Moz Medium costs $179 a month ($2,148 a year) for 1,500 tracked keywords and two users, $840 a year less than Ahrefs Standard. Ranktracker Growth costs $89 a month ($1,068 a year) for 1,000 keywords tracked daily with unlimited users, which saves $1,920 a year against Ahrefs Standard.

Gotchas before you switch

  • Extra seats: Ahrefs charges $40 a month per extra user on Lite, $60 on Standard, $80 on Advanced and $100 on Enterprise. Lite stops at two extra users. Moz charges $49 a month per extra seat on every plan.
  • Add-ons: Ahrefs sells Report Builder as a separate $99 a month. None of the figures in this page include it.
  • Plan limits move: every plan above was read on 10 October 2026. Check the vendor page on the day you buy.

How we priced this

We read each vendor's own pricing page on 10 October 2026, in US dollars, and used the monthly list price for the main scenario. Yearly prices appear only where the vendor states the discount. We ranked three plans from three vendors and left out every tool whose dollar price we could not confirm on its own page that day. The team and next-tier figures are arithmetic on those same list prices. For the wider field, see our best AI SEO tools guide.

FAQ

What is the cheapest Ahrefs alternative in 2026?

For one user tracking up to 300 keywords, Ranktracker's Launch plan is cheapest at $39 a month, or $468 a year on monthly billing. LowFruits Standard is cheaper at $29.90 a month but tracks only 100 keywords. Launch allows 500 daily keyword tracks with unlimited users. Ahrefs Lite costs $129 a month for the same user.

How much do you save by switching from Ahrefs Lite to Moz Pro?

Moz Pro Standard costs $99 a month against $129 for Ahrefs Lite, which saves $360 a year on monthly billing. Standard allows one user and 300 tracked keywords, while Lite allows 750 keywords for one user. Moz's yearly rate of $79 a month brings its yearly cost to $948, which is $600 below Ahrefs Lite on monthly billing.

Is there a free Ahrefs alternative?

Ahrefs Free gives limited access to Site Explorer and Site Audit at no cost, which suits checking your own site more than full keyword research. Moz offers a free Community account with limited Keyword Explorer and Link Explorer access. None of the paid plans in the table, Ranktracker Launch, Moz Pro Standard or Ahrefs Lite, has a free tier.

How much does it cost to add users to Ahrefs?

On Lite, each extra user costs $40 a month, and you can add two. Three users therefore cost $209 a month, or $2,508 a year. Standard charges $60 a month per extra user, Advanced $80 and Enterprise $100.

Is Ranktracker a real replacement for Ahrefs?

It can replace Ahrefs for rank tracking at a much lower price, with 500 daily keyword tracks and unlimited users on Launch. Whether it replaces Ahrefs' Site Explorer depends on link data, and its pricing page names no backlink index, so run the same domains through both tools first.

Does Ahrefs offer an annual discount?

Ahrefs says annual billing saves up to 17% on its plans, but its pricing page gives no per-plan annual rate, so a yearly Ahrefs cost cannot be stated from that page. Moz Pro and Ranktracker both state a 20% discount on yearly billing.
