SocialBee vs Buffer 2026: Scheduling Plans and Costs
Compare SocialBee and Buffer for five social profiles, including monthly and yearly costs, free limits and approval workflows.

Choose Buffer if a solo creator can use its $0 plan for up to three channels. Consider SocialBee when a paid package covering several profiles and content categories fits the workflow. For one user managing five paid profiles, SocialBee Bootstrap lists $29 per month and Buffer Essentials works out to $30 per month at its stated channel rate. These are different products, not identical feature bundles. Vendor prices checked October 28, 2026.
The free and trial options should not be confused. Buffer offers an ongoing Free plan with limits. SocialBee advertises a 14-day trial of its paid features; its published plan comparison then lists paid subscriptions. Confirm the current offer and supported networks before changing tools.
Toolradar data: Our directory evaluated 164 social media management tools in its October 26, 2026 ranking. That is the size of the category snapshot, not a test of these products. Toolradar also has a SocialBee profile and a Buffer profile.
SocialBee vs Buffer at a glance
| Question | SocialBee | Buffer |
|---|---|---|
| Entry option | 14-day paid-feature trial | Free plan with limits |
| Paid solo plan | Bootstrap: $29/month on monthly billing | Essentials: $6/channel/month for first 10 channels on monthly billing |
| Profiles in example | Up to 5 on Bootstrap | 5 paid channels in our calculation |
| Annual price for that example | Bootstrap: $290/year | Essentials: $300/year for 5 channels |
| Organization | Bootstrap lists 1 workspace and 10 content categories | Channels and planning calendar |
| Approvals | SocialBee lists post approval on Accelerate | Buffer lists approval workflows on Team |
The published rates come from SocialBee pricing and Buffer's plan guide. Check the exact networks, users, currencies and add-ons at checkout. A profile and a channel are the billing units used in this example; their features and connection rules are not automatically interchangeable.
What do five profiles cost?
Our scenario is one person managing five connected social profiles, each on a supported network or account, and paying for the relevant entry paid plan. It excludes taxes, extra users, add-ons, services and platform-specific charges.
| Billing | SocialBee Bootstrap | Buffer Essentials | Difference |
|---|---|---|---|
| One month, monthly billing | $29 | 5 × $6 = $30 | SocialBee $1 lower |
| One year, annual billing | $290 | 5 × $60 = $300 | SocialBee $10 lower |
The difference is small enough that a needed feature or extra charge can reverse it. SocialBee's Bootstrap package includes up to five profiles; Buffer charges per channel and says all connected channels are paid when a user upgrades, including those previously on Free. The five-channel calculation does not retain three free channels underneath the paid plan.
Annual figures use SocialBee's published yearly price and Buffer's yearly per-channel rate, not a rounded monthly equivalent. The annual commitment and the renewal terms should be checked in checkout. If the team has only two or three channels, Buffer Free might cover the channel count, subject to its queue and connection limits; SocialBee's trial does not establish an ongoing no-cost plan.
A larger account needs fresh arithmetic. Buffer lists lower marginal rates above ten channels, while SocialBee sells larger packages and profile add-ons. Count actual profiles, users and workspaces before applying a price band. A package that has unused slots may still be useful, but those slots do not reduce the amount charged for the package.
How does Buffer Free work?
Buffer lists up to three connected channels and ten scheduled posts per channel at a time. Its pricing FAQ says a slot becomes available after a post publishes. That is a queue limit, not a ten-post monthly allowance. A small account can refill the queue as work goes out, provided it stays within other applicable terms.
Buffer's plan overview and connection guide describe a lifetime limit of eight distinct connections per social network on Free, even when an account is later disconnected. Confirm how that restriction applies to your account before rotating client profiles. Paid plans do not list that same lifetime limit.
A creator with Instagram, LinkedIn and a Facebook Page may fit the three-channel count, but should verify the intended post formats and the permissions needed to connect each account. A fourth channel or a paid feature can change the budget. The free social media schedulers guide offers other tools to compare.
What does SocialBee Bootstrap include?
SocialBee's pricing page lists Bootstrap with up to five profiles, one user per workspace, one workspace, ten content categories and ten content sources. It also lists three months of analytics data. The vendor says the paid plans are available on monthly or annual billing; verify the selected plan and terms in the account.
Categories can help a marketer organize recurring types of content, such as product updates, education and customer stories. Before committing, check the actual publication rules, how often a post can be reused, and whether reuse fits each social platform's policies. A category limit is not necessarily a limit on the total number of original ideas a team may have outside the product.
SocialBee lists Accelerate with up to ten profiles, one user per workspace, one workspace and a post-approval system. Pro lists up to 25 profiles across five workspaces and three users per workspace. Those higher capacities and features have higher plan prices. Ask which permissions a client or reviewer requires and whether they need an additional paid user.

Which is better for a team and approvals?
Buffer's Team plan lists unlimited users and approval workflows. Its support guide lists $12 per channel per month for the first ten channels on monthly billing. For five channels that is $60 per month before taxes and other charges. The corresponding first-ten-channel annual price is $120 per channel, or $600 per year for five.
SocialBee lists post approval on Accelerate, priced at $49 per month on monthly billing, and lists one user per workspace in that plan. Its pricing table also lists an additional user at $10 per month on monthly plans. Whether a particular client or reviewer needs that add-on and whether it provides the required permission is a question for SocialBee. Do not assume that the published add-on makes the two approval workflows identical.
Test the same workflow with each provider: a writer drafts a post, a client requests a revision, an approver signs off and the publisher schedules it. Ask who can see each workspace, who can change a published time and what happens when access is revoked. The lowest plan that includes a feature by name may not include the user roles your process requires.

Analytics and reports: what should you check?
SocialBee lists up to three months of analytics data on Bootstrap and up to two years on Accelerate and Pro. Its plan table lists report export on Pro. Buffer lists analytics on Free and advanced analytics on paid plans; check exactly which networks and report exports are supported for the plan you select.
A marketer preparing a monthly client report should ask both vendors to show the metrics, time range, export format and branding needed for a representative account. Social platforms can change their APIs and available metrics, so a feature being listed today does not guarantee every network exposes every data point.
If historical performance is important, decide how much data needs to be retained outside the scheduling tool and who owns it. Document the report format before migrating, especially if a client expects a consistent year-over-year view.

Hidden costs and a practical quote
A five-profile headline does not include every possible agency requirement. SocialBee publishes add-ons for additional users, workspaces and sets of profiles. Its pricing page lists an extra user at $10 per month or $100 per year and five additional profiles at $15 per month or $150 per year, subject to plan terms. Verify whether the add-on is available and appropriate for the plan before adding it to a budget.
Buffer's price changes with the number of channels and plan. Its pricing FAQ says paid plans charge for all connected channels. Its first-ten-channel rates change above that band, so model the actual lineup and check the price calculator. Taxes can also change the final invoice for either service.
Start the quote with a specific scenario: five accounts, one author, one client reviewer, a monthly report and one approval step. Then request the same billing interval, permissions and supported formats from both vendors. Include the cost of any required additional user or profile, rather than comparing a paid team workflow with a solo publishing plan.
If you are deciding whether to replace another platform, export the publishing calendar and inventory the connected accounts first. A scheduled post may need a new authorization or media upload after migration. Coordinate the handover so the old and new tools do not publish the same item twice.

Methodology
We reviewed SocialBee's US pricing and help documentation, Buffer's pricing and plan documentation, and Toolradar's category page on October 28, 2026. The five-profile totals are arithmetic using published rates; the plans are not feature-equivalent. We did not create accounts or perform product testing. Verify current pricing, terms and platform support before switching.
