Smartlead Review 2026
Smartlead's plans and trial terms, what they cost at 100,000 emails a month, and how it compares with Instantly, lemlist, Saleshandy and Salesforge.
Smartlead is a cold email platform with unlimited email accounts on every plan, priced by the emails you send and the contacts you store. Pick Smartlead for agencies and multi-client work, and pick Instantly or Saleshandy when volume is the deciding factor. Plans run from $39/mo on Base to $379/mo on Unlimited Prime, and yearly billing takes about 17% off every plan. There is no free plan, but the 14-day trial needs no card.
The catch sits in the middle of the range: Pro tops out at 90,000 emails a month, so a team sending 100,000 pays $144/mo on Unlimited Smart on yearly billing, which is $68 a month more than Saleshandy's Pro, the plan that covers 100,000 emails.

SmartleadSmartlead sells cold email sending to agencies and B2B teams that run many inboxes at once. Its pitch is unlimited email accounts on every plan, a shared inbox for replies, AI agents that research leads and draft email, and a warm-up pool to protect sender reputation.
The buying questions are whether the plan you need is cheaper than the rivals at your volume, and whether you can test the product before you pay.
This review answers both with the prices and trial terms Smartlead publishes today.
MarketingShot data: our newsletter has 35,000+ subscribers and a 32% open rate as of October 2026. Cold email has no opt-in list behind it, so the sending infrastructure has to earn inbox placement on its own. Our newsletters run on beehiiv, which is not one of the tools ranked on this page.
What is Smartlead?
Smartlead is a cold email outreach platform built around sending. You connect as many mailboxes as you need, and each campaign rotates sends across them so one inbox does not carry all the volume.
Around that sending core, the homepage lists a shared inbox for every reply, a lead database called SmartProspect, AI agents called SmartAgents, a dialer, a CRM and an API. The homepage also describes a Smartlead MCP connection with 170 actions across campaigns, leads, analytics and inbox handling.
Agencies get the most from the product.
Each client can run in its own workspace, and white-label access is sold per workspace, so an agency can resell the tool under its own brand. Smartlead is also listed on Toolradar, where it sits alongside Instantly, lemlist and Saleshandy.
How Smartlead works
The slow part of a Smartlead launch is the mailboxes, not the software. You connect the accounts, let warm-up run for a few weeks, then build a campaign from a lead list, a sequence with variables and sending limits per inbox. Replies land in the shared inbox.
The homepage advertises an exclusive warm-up pool and human-like interactions, but the pricing page does not say which tier includes the pool, so ask that question before you buy a plan.
The bill has a second line most buyers miss.
Placement testing is a separate product. SmartDelivery Growth costs $49 a month for 120 tests, and SmartDelivery Pro costs $174 a month with unlimited tests plus full API and white-label access.
A team that tests placement before every large send should add that to the monthly total, which takes the yearly Unlimited Smart bill to $193 a month once Growth is added.
Smartlead key features
Smartlead pricing
Smartlead's pricing page, checked in October 2026, lists four self-serve plans. Base is the entry plan, at $32 a month on yearly billing, for 2,000 contacts and 6,000 emails. Pro is $94 ($78 yearly) for 30,000 contacts and 90,000 emails.
Unlimited Smart is $174 ($144 yearly) with unlimited contacts and 150,000 emails. Unlimited Prime is $379 ($315 yearly) with unlimited contacts, 500,000 emails, three SmartServers and three client workspaces.
Every plan has unlimited email accounts.
The page also shows a $59 headline figure above the plan cards that contradicts them, so we priced from the cards. It advertises 50% off the first month on any plan.
Add-ons change the total: white-label costs $29 per client workspace, and SmartDelivery placement testing starts at $49 a month.
Here is the volume ladder on yearly billing, computed from the published caps. At 5,000 emails a month, Smartlead's Base costs less than Instantly's Growth ($37.60), which caps at 5,000 emails.
At 50,000 emails, Smartlead Pro ($78) and Instantly Hypergrowth ($77.60) are level. At 100,000 emails, Smartlead has to step up to Unlimited Smart, and Instantly's Hypergrowth comes out $66.40 a month cheaper.
Saleshandy's Pro covers 100,000 emails for the least money of the three.

Smartlead pros and cons
What we like
- Unlimited email accounts on every plan, so adding inboxes never raises the bill.
- Cheapest entry plan in this comparison on yearly billing, with 6,000 emails a month.
- White-label workspaces from Pro, with three included on Unlimited Prime.
What could be better
- Pro stops at 90,000 emails a month, so a team sending 100,000 must pay $144 a month on yearly billing for Unlimited Smart.
- No free plan, and the pricing page does not say which tier includes the warm-up pool or the AI agents.
- Placement testing is a separate bill, starting at $49 a month for 120 tests.
Who Smartlead is for
Smartlead fits agencies and B2B outbound teams that send from many mailboxes and want to hand each client a workspace of its own.
A team with a few client accounts and 100,000 emails a month gets value from the white-label option and the unlimited accounts, though that volume costs more than on Saleshandy or Instantly.
Smaller senders have a different reason to look.
At 6,000 emails a month, Base is the cheapest entry plan in this comparison on yearly billing, though its 2,000-contact cap is tight for a list that grows. Teams that need a free tier to test first will not find one here. Apollo's free plan has no time limit but connects Gmail accounts only, so it is the closer option for a no-cost start.
If you need per-user pricing and multichannel steps, the lemlist review covers that trade-off, and our Instantly review covers the volume-first alternative.
Best Smartlead alternatives
If Smartlead is not the right fit, these are the closest options.
| Tool | Best for | Starts at | |

| Instantly | Agencies and B2B teams sending high volume across many inboxes, with a lead database in its bundles. | From $47/mo (Growth), or $37.60/mo billed yearly | Visit → |

The bottom line
Smartlead is a strong pick for agencies and multi-client teams, and it has the cheapest entry plan in this comparison on yearly billing. Its weak point is the step from Pro to Unlimited Smart, the next plan up for any team sending past 90,000 emails a month.
At that volume Instantly and Saleshandy beat it on price.
Pick Saleshandy if you send about 100,000 emails a month and want unlimited warm-up on a lower annual bill, and accept the rotation caps. Pick Instantly if you want the lead database in a bundle and can pay for it.
Pick Salesforge if you want unlimited mailboxes on a monthly bill with a 14-day trial, and can live with Pro's 5,000-email cap. Pick lemlist if per-user pricing and a multichannel plan suit a small team. Test any of them inside the trial before you pay.
Smartlead's refund window for new subscriptions is only 7 days, so start a real campaign early. For the wider field, see our cold email software ranking.
