Omnisend Review

What Omnisend's Free, Standard and Pro plans cost at each contact count in 2026, what the 3-month discount really saves, and when Klaviyo or MailerLite is the better fit.

TL;DR

Omnisend is worth it in 2026 for a Shopify or WooCommerce store that wants email, SMS and automation without Klaviyo's price, but its headline price is a promotion. Standard costs $16 a month at 500 contacts and Pro costs $59 a month at up to 2,500 contacts; the $11.20 figure on the pricing page applies only if you prepay 3 months, and only for those 3 months. The Free plan covers 250 contacts and 500 emails a month.

Its best argument is Pro, which pairs unlimited email with SMS from $0.007 a message on high-volume US sends. Its weak spot is Standard at mid-size lists: at 2,500 contacts it costs $44 a month, against $33 for MailerLite Comfort. Choose Omnisend for ecommerce automation and SMS; choose MailerLite or Sender if you mostly send newsletters.

Omnisend sells email, SMS and web push marketing built for online stores, with prebuilt automations for abandoned carts, browse abandonment and post-purchase flows, plus product recommendation blocks. It prices every paid plan by the number of contacts you send to, so the bill moves with your list rather than with your send volume on Pro.

This review breaks down the Free, Standard and Pro plans at three list sizes, explains how the 3-month prepay discount works, and compares the cost with four rivals. Every price is in US dollars and was checked on each vendor's own pricing page in October 2026.

Toolradar data: on Toolradar, the software directory we run, Omnisend ranks #1 on the email marketing ranking of 108 tracked tools as of October 17, 2026, and its entry paid plan ranks #1 of 12 for price among SMS marketing tools that publish an entry price, where the median entry plan costs $34.50 a month. That pairing, a top-ranked email tool that is also the cheapest SMS entry point, is the core of the case for Omnisend.

MarketingShot data: this newsletter reached 35,000+ marketers as of October 18, 2026, with a 32% average open rate. Our own newsletters are sent on beehiiv, not on Omnisend or any rival on this page.

How we compared: Omnisend against Klaviyo, Mailchimp, MailerLite and Sender on the free allowance, the monthly cost at 500, 2,500 and 5,000 contacts, and whether SMS sits in the same plan. Methodology: all prices are the vendors' published monthly list prices, read in October 2026, and the yearly figures are our own arithmetic. We did not test any of these tools.

What is Omnisend?

Omnisend is an email and SMS marketing platform for ecommerce brands that charges by contact count. It connects to store platforms such as Shopify and WooCommerce, pulls in orders and browsing events, and uses them to trigger automations and fill product blocks.

You are billed for subscribers and non-subscribers who received automated messages, while unsubscribed contacts are not billed, so a list with many old unsubscribes costs less here than on tools that count every record.

How Omnisend works

You start on Free with 250 contacts, 500 emails and 500 web push notifications a month. Even Free includes 24/7 live chat and email support, a free migration service and the Omnisend MCP server for connecting AI tools.

Standard is the email plan. It adds unlimited web push, Forms AI and Reports AI, and an email allowance that scales with the contact tier: 6,000 emails a month at 500 contacts and 60,000 at 5,000. Personalized content and personalized send time are paid add-ons on Standard, each from $5 a month.

Pro is the email plus SMS plan. It lifts email to unlimited, includes the personalization tools (dynamic content, the AI product recommender and per-contact send time) and opens SMS at per-message rates that vary by country. Pro starts at 2,500 contacts, so even a small list pays the 2,500-contact price. Once a bill reaches $400 a month, Omnisend provides a free account expert.

Omnisend key features

Ecommerce automationsEssential
Prebuilt flows for cart and browse abandonment and post-purchase follow-up, fed by store data. This is the reason a store picks Omnisend over a newsletter tool.
SMS on ProEssential
Text messages from $0.007 each on high-volume US sends, with rates varying by country. Having email and SMS in one plan saves a second subscription.
Billing that skips unsubscribes
Unsubscribed contacts are not billed, which keeps the bill closer to your active audience than on tools that count every profile.
AI tools by plan
Standard gets Forms AI and Reports AI; Pro adds dynamic content, the product recommender and per-contact send time. On Standard, two of those are paid add-ons.
24/7 support on every plan
Live chat and email support around the clock, including on Free, plus a free migration from another platform.

Omnisend pricing

Omnisend lists regular monthly prices by contact band, then shows a 30% discount if you pay the first 3 months upfront. That discount ends after 3 months, and billing then reverts to the regular monthly rate, so plan on the full price. Standard costs $20 a month at 1,000 contacts, $44 at 2,500 and $81 at 5,000. Pro costs $90 a month at 5,000 contacts and $150 at 10,000.

A worked example for a store with 5,000 contacts over its first year: Standard costs $972 at the regular rate, or $899.10 with the 3-month prepay. Pro costs $1,080 at the regular rate, or $999 with the prepay, before SMS credits. The $108 gap buys unlimited email instead of a 60,000-email cap, plus SMS and the personalization tools, which makes Pro the better value for most stores at that size.

Rivals at a glance: Klaviyo's free plan also covers 250 profiles and 500 emails, and its paid Email plan starts a few dollars above Omnisend Standard. Mailchimp's Essentials plan starts at $13 a month for the first 12 months. MailerLite's Comfort plan costs $33 a month at 2,500 subscribers and $49 at 5,000. Sender's free plan covers 2,500 subscribers and 15,000 emails a month.

Prices were read on Omnisend's pricing page, Klaviyo's pricing page, Mailchimp's pricing page, MailerLite's pricing page and Sender's pricing page in October 2026.

Who Omnisend is for

Omnisend fits a Shopify or WooCommerce store with a few thousand contacts that wants cart recovery, product recommendations and SMS from one bill. At 5,000 contacts Pro costs only a little more than Standard and removes the email cap, so most stores past that size should start on Pro.

Skip it if you send a content newsletter rather than store promotions. MailerLite is cheaper at every list size we compared, and Sender's free plan covers ten times as many subscribers as Omnisend's. Stores that already run a large customer data setup should price Klaviyo too, which our Klaviyo review covers.

The bottom line

Omnisend is a strong buy in 2026 for an online store that will use SMS and store automations, and Pro is the plan that makes the case. At 5,000 contacts it costs a little more than Standard, removes the email cap and adds SMS and personalization. Standard alone is harder to defend for a mid-size list, where MailerLite charges less.

Read the pricing page carefully. The low figure in large type is the 3-month prepay rate, not what you pay from month four, and Pro starts at the 2,500-contact price no matter how small your list is. Budget on the regular rates in our tier table and the numbers hold.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Omnisend cost in 2026?

Omnisend is free up to 250 contacts. Standard costs $16 a month at 500 contacts and rises with the list, and Pro costs $59 a month at up to 2,500 contacts. Prepaying 3 months cuts those first 3 months by 30%, after which the regular monthly rate applies.

Does Omnisend have a free plan?

Yes. The Free plan covers 250 contacts, 500 emails and 500 web push notifications a month, with 24/7 support and free migration. It suits a new store testing automations, but 500 emails a month runs out after two sends to a full list.

Is Omnisend cheaper than Klaviyo?

At the entry level, yes. Both free plans cover 250 contacts or profiles and 500 emails a month, and Omnisend Standard's entry price sits below Klaviyo's Email plan for the same 500-profile band, so a small store pays less from the first paid month. Omnisend also does not bill unsubscribed contacts.

What is the difference between Omnisend Standard and Pro?

Standard is email only, with a monthly email allowance tied to your contact tier, and charges extra for personalized content and send time. Pro adds SMS, unlimited email, dynamic content and AI product recommendations, and is priced from 2,500 contacts.

How much does SMS cost on Omnisend?

SMS is part of the Pro plan and is billed per message, from $0.007 on high-volume US sends. Rates vary by destination country and volume, so check the SMS calculator on Omnisend's pricing page for your market.
