Kit (ConvertKit) Pricing 2026: Free Plan, Creator and Pro Costs
Kit pricing in 2026: free up to 10,000 subscribers, Creator from $39/mo and Pro from $79/mo at 1,000 subscribers, with tier-by-tier costs to 25,000.

Key facts3 plans compared: Free, Creator, Pro
- 3 plans compared: Free, Creator, Pro
- Free (best for: Growing a list with broadcasts only): $0 up to 10,000 subscribers
- Creator (best for: A marketer who needs a welcome series or a launch funnel): $39/mo monthly, or $390/yr
- Pro (best for: A team that sells sponsorships or needs deliverability data): $79/mo monthly, or $790/yr
Kit costs $0 up to 10,000 subscribers on its Free plan, $39/mo on Creator and $79/mo on Pro at 1,000 subscribers, billed monthly. Yearly billing charges 10 months for 12, so Creator shows as $33/mo ($390 a year). The catch for marketers: Free has no automations or sequences, so a welcome series means paying from subscriber one.
Prices were verified on 18 October 2026 on Kit's pricing page, including its subscriber slider, with billing rules from Kit's help articles on billing, the Free plan and subscriber statuses. Toolradar data: Toolradar, the software directory we run, evaluated 108 email marketing tools for its October 2026 email marketing ranking, and 8 of its 10 top picks have a free plan. A free tier is table stakes in this category, so what matters is what Kit's free tier leaves out.
One disclosure before the numbers: MarketingShot and Dupple's other newsletters are sent on beehiiv, a Kit competitor, so weigh our read knowing we use a rival platform.
Kit plans at a glance
| Plan | Best for | Price at 1,000 subscribers | What it adds |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | Growing a list with broadcasts only | $0 up to 10,000 subscribers | Unlimited forms, landing pages and broadcasts, tagging, digital product sales, 1 user |
| Creator | A marketer who needs a welcome series or a launch funnel | $39/mo monthly, or $390/yr | Unlimited visual automations and sequences, 2 users, branding removed, SMS, RSS campaigns, app integrations |
| Pro | A team that sells sponsorships or needs deliverability data | $79/mo monthly, or $790/yr | Unlimited users, engagement scoring, deliverability reporting, referral system, Facebook custom audiences |
Kit prices every plan by subscriber tier, not by seat or send. Each plan includes unlimited email sends, and the tier is the only number that moves the bill as the list grows.
What Kit costs as your list grows
Our cost table: the monthly prices below come from the subscriber slider on Kit's pricing page, read 18 October 2026, and the yearly prices follow Kit's published rule of 12 months for the price of 10.
| Subscribers | Creator, monthly | Creator, yearly | Pro, monthly | Pro, yearly |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Up to 1,000 | $39/mo | $390/yr | $79/mo | $790/yr |
| 1,001 to 3,000 | $59/mo | $590/yr | $99/mo | $990/yr |
| 3,001 to 5,000 | $89/mo | $890/yr | $139/mo | $1,390/yr |
| 8,001 to 10,000 | $139/mo | $1,390/yr | $189/mo | $1,890/yr |
| 20,001 to 25,000 | $199/mo | $1,990/yr | $279/mo | $2,790/yr |
The Pro premium is $40 a month at 1,000 subscribers and $50 at 10,000. For a marketer weighing the upgrade, that gap buys unlimited users, engagement scoring and deliverability reporting, so it pays off once a third person needs a login or a sponsor wants proof of an engaged list.
The steepest step is the first one. Going from 1,000 to 1,001 subscribers adds $20 a month on Creator, a 51% jump for one extra contact. Clean the list before it crosses a tier boundary, not after.
At the top of the Free plan's range, the comparison gets sharp. A list that grew to the cap for free costs $139 a month on Creator the day you want one automated welcome email. That is the price of adding automation, not of adding subscribers.
Above 25,000, the slider keeps climbing: Creator reaches $259 a month at 35,000 and Pro reaches $363. Every one of those tiers is published on the slider, so a large sender can budget years ahead without a sales call.
The Free plan: generous on list size, thin on automation
Kit's Free plan stays at $0 for as long as your confirmed list sits under its subscriber cap. It includes unlimited forms, landing pages and broadcasts, tagging and segmentation, A/B testing on broadcasts, API access, and the ability to sell digital products and subscriptions.
What it leaves out is the marketing engine. Visual automations, email sequences, rules, RSS campaigns, AI connectors and paid apps all need Creator or Pro, per Kit's Free plan help article. A marketer who runs broadcasts to a growing list can stay free for a long time, while anyone who wants a five-email onboarding series cannot.
The Free plan also enrolls you in Kit's Creator Network, with five Smart Recommendation slots that fill automatically with similar creators. Paid plans get priority and a larger share of those recommendations, so a free account is featured less often. Earning from Paid Recommendations needs a paid plan too.
Passing 10,000 subscribers forces an upgrade to keep sending. Kit says everything you built stays in place, but plan for the $169 Creator tier that starts at 10,001 rather than the price of the tier just below it.
Creator vs Pro: which plan a marketer needs
Creator is the plan for most solo marketers. It unlocks unlimited automations and sequences, removes Kit branding, adds SMS marketing and RSS campaigns, and includes 24/7 email and chat support. It caps you at 2 users and 2 subject lines per A/B test, which a solo operator rarely hits.
Pro is the plan for a team or a monetized newsletter. It adds unlimited users, subscriber engagement scoring, Subscriber Signals (audience research on income and demographics once the paid plan begins), deliverability reporting by inbox provider, an insights dashboard and collaborative editing. It also allows up to 5 subject lines in an A/B test and lets you edit links in broadcasts you already sent.
Two Pro features matter for growth marketers. The newsletter referral system comes as a free SparkLoop plan, which Kit values at $99/mo. Facebook custom audiences syncs subscribers into ad targeting, a feature Creator does not get. If you would pay for a referral tool anyway, part of Pro's premium is already covered.
Pro carries a limited-time offer on yearly billing: an extra 25% off the first year, which brings the 1,000-subscriber plan to $593 for that year. The discount applies only to year one, and the plan renews at the standard rate after that, so budget year two at full price.
Fees beyond the subscription
Commerce fees are the cost the plan table hides. Kit charges 3.5% + 30c on digital products and subscriptions on every plan, Free included. On a $10 monthly paid newsletter, that takes 65 cents from each payment.
Paid Recommendations carry a separate Kit fee of 23.5% of the earnings paid through them, on Creator and Pro. A creator who earns from recommending other newsletters keeps 76.5% of that revenue.
Sales tax is added on top in US states that charge it. Kit's billing article works through the 1,000-subscriber Creator plan in Idaho, which becomes $41.34 with tax, so the sticker price is not the card charge everywhere.
How Kit bills: auto-upgrades, manual downgrades
Kit moves you up a tier automatically and never moves you down on its own. When your list passes a tier's limit, the upgrade happens with no action from you, and the bill is pro-rated. If you clean the list and drop below a tier, you must choose "Switch to a lower tier" in billing settings, and the lower price starts on your next billing date.
That asymmetry costs money for marketers who run list hygiene. Kit's own example is an account at 1,200 subscribers paying $59 that cleans down to 800 and can then switch back to the 1,000-subscriber price. Skip the switch and you keep paying the higher tier.
The good news on counting: only confirmed subscribers count toward the bill. Unconfirmed, unsubscribed, bounced, complained and blocked contacts do not, and Kit's pricing page says a subscriber is counted only if unique and active. Cold subscribers still count, so a re-engagement or removal campaign is the lever.
Billing runs in advance for the period ahead. Kit offers a 30-day refund policy on all plans, including annual, but nothing older than 30 days is refunded or pro-rated. Switching from annual back to monthly takes effect only at the end of the annual cycle.
Trial, migration and discounts
Creator and Pro both come with a 14-day free trial, with no credit card required, and Kit offers free migrations from another platform. Switch from a trial to Free and the paid features stop at once, though anything you built stays in your account.
The only standing discount on the pricing page is yearly billing, labeled as saving 17%. The 25% first-year cut applies to Pro alone and is marked limited-time.
Is Kit worth the price in 2026?
For a marketer building a list with broadcasts, Kit's Free plan is hard to beat until the list outgrows its cap. The upgrade decision comes when you need automation, and at that point Creator's entry price is the real cost of a welcome series. For how a contact-based rival prices the same job, see the Mailchimp pricing breakdown.
Kit gets expensive for a large list that needs only one sequence, because automation is all-or-nothing by plan. A marketer sitting at the Free plan's cap pays the same Creator rate whether they run one automation or fifty.

How we checked these prices
We read Kit's pricing page on 18 October 2026, moving its subscriber slider through each tier in the cost table, and took billing, counting and Free plan rules from Kit's own help center. Yearly prices apply Kit's published rule of 12 months for the price of 10; no promotion enters the cost table. The Toolradar figure comes from its live email marketing ranking on the same date. We did not run a Kit account for this page.
