AWeber Review

What AWeber's Lite and Plus plans cost at each list size in 2026, where the 3-automation cap bites, and which cheaper platforms beat it.

TL;DR

AWeber is worth it in 2026 if you want a long-running, fully supported email tool and will pay yearly, but it is not the cheap option. Lite costs $15 a month at 500 subscribers and Plus costs $30, and the bill climbs with every subscriber tier: a 5,000-subscriber list pays $60 a month on Lite. A Free plan still covers 500 subscribers and 3,000 emails a month.

Its best argument is Plus billed annually, which removes the caps on lists, landing pages, automations and users and comes out at $240 a year for 500 subscribers. Its weakest point is Lite, which allows only 3 automations and 3 landing pages. On price alone, MailerLite's Comfort plan undercuts AWeber Lite at 2,500 and 5,000 subscribers.

AWeber has sold email marketing to small businesses since 1998, and its 2026 lineup is short: a Free plan, Lite, Plus, and a paid setup service called Done For You. Every paid plan is priced by subscriber count, so two questions set your bill: how big the list is, and whether you can commit to a year up front.

This review sets out what each AWeber tier costs at 500, 2,500 and 5,000 subscribers, what the annual discount is really worth, and where cheaper rivals win. Every price is in US dollars and was checked on each vendor's own pricing page in October 2026.

Toolradar data: on Toolradar, the software directory we run, AWeber's entry paid plan ranks #7 of 9 for price among newsletter tools that publish an entry price, where the median entry plan is $10.80 a month, and it is listed as an alternative to 9 other tools, as of October 2026. The wider email marketing category holds 108 tools as of October 17, 2026, and 57% of them are free, freemium or open source.

MarketingShot data: this newsletter reached 35,000+ active subscribers as of October 18, 2026, with a 32% average open rate. Our newsletters are sent on beehiiv, not on AWeber or any rival reviewed here.

How we compared: AWeber against MailerLite, Kit, Mailchimp and Sender on the free allowance, the cost at three list sizes, and how many automations and landing pages the cheapest paid tier allows. Methodology: prices come from the vendors' public pricing pages for the stated subscriber count, read in October 2026. We did not test any of these products.

What is AWeber?

AWeber is an email marketing platform for small businesses and creators that bills by subscriber count. The core is newsletters and automated sequences, with landing pages, signup forms, web push notifications and a basic ecommerce layer for selling products and subscriptions on top.

The account sends a multiple of your list each month: ten times your subscriber tier on Lite, twelve times on Plus. A paid tier sets both your list ceiling and your send ceiling, so a growing list moves you up the price ladder even if you send the same number of campaigns.

How AWeber works

You can start on the Free plan, which covers 500 subscribers and 3,000 emails a month, or start a 14-day trial of Lite or Plus. The trial runs on a card: AWeber charges it for the chosen plan when the trial ends unless you cancel first, and it charges early if you go past the trial's subscriber or sending limit.

Lite is the entry paid tier, with 1 email list, 3 landing pages, 3 automations, 3 users and 1 saved custom segment. It removes AWeber branding and adds advanced message analytics and sales tracking, with a 1.0% transaction fee on products you sell through AWeber.

Plus lifts every one of those caps to unlimited, adds advanced reporting and priority support, and cuts the ecommerce fee to 0.6%, which is why most businesses running more than one funnel end up there.

Done For You is Plus with an expert setup: AWeber's team builds a template, landing pages, a signup form and a welcome series in 7 days, then gives you 30 days of edits.

AWeber key features

Free plan for 500 subscribersEssential
A permanent tier with 3,000 emails a month. It keeps AWeber branding and drops split testing, saved segments and behavioral automation, so it suits a list that is still finding its feet.
Lite: paid basics with tight capsEssential
Sends ten times your subscriber tier each month, with 3 automations, 3 landing pages and a single list. Fine for one welcome sequence; cramped for a business running several funnels.
Plus: no caps on lists, pages, automations or usersEssential
Sends twelve times your tier monthly and adds advanced reporting and priority 24/7 support. This is the plan that justifies AWeber over cheaper tools.
Built-in selling
Sell products, subscriptions and payment plans from AWeber with purchase tagging. The fee is 1.0% on Lite and 0.6% on Plus, on top of the payment processor's own charge.
Web push notifications
Collect browser push subscribers and message them from the same account: up to 50,000 push subscribers on Lite and unlimited on Plus.

AWeber pricing

AWeber publishes a full price grid for Lite and Plus from 500 to 150,000 subscribers. Annual billing is where AWeber gets competitive: Lite at 500 subscribers costs $180 a year paid monthly against $150 paid annually, and Plus at 500 costs $360 a year paid monthly against $240 paid annually. That is the "up to 4 months free" on AWeber's page, and it only reaches four months on Plus.

At 2,500 subscribers, Lite runs $35 a month or $350 a year, and Plus runs $55 a month or $550 a year. At 5,000 subscribers, Plus costs $90 a month or $900 a year. Done For You is billed annually at the Plus level plus a one-time setup fee, currently discounted to $79.

A worked example for a 2,500-subscriber list over one year: AWeber Lite costs $420 paid monthly or $350 paid annually, AWeber Plus costs $660 or $550, and MailerLite's Comfort plan costs $396 paid monthly or $356.40 paid yearly. Sender's Free Forever plan covers that list at no cost, though it caps sends at 15,000 a month against Lite's 25,000.

At 5,000 subscribers the gap widens. AWeber Lite costs $720 a year paid monthly ($600 paid annually), while MailerLite Comfort costs $588 ($529.20 yearly). Prices were read on AWeber's pricing page, AWeber's free plan page, MailerLite's pricing page, Kit's pricing page, Mailchimp's pricing page and Sender's pricing page in October 2026.

  • 24/7 support on Lite and Plus, priority on Plus

What could be better

  • Lite allows only 3 automations, 3 landing pages and 1 list

  • A 1.0% sales fee on Lite, 0.6% on Plus

Who AWeber is for

AWeber fits a coach, blogger or small shop that wants one supported tool for email, landing pages and simple selling, and will commit to a year of Plus. Billed annually, Plus removes every cap that makes Lite feel small, and the 24/7 support is a real difference from free plans that offer community help only.

Skip it if your list is past a couple of thousand subscribers and price is the main filter: MailerLite and Sender charge less at the same size. Creators who sell to an audience and want many automations should also price out Kit, whose Free plan covers 10,000 subscribers.

The bottom line

AWeber is a sound buy in 2026 for a small business that will pay for Plus annually. At that level you get unlimited lists, pages, automations and users, plus priority 24/7 support, for less than the monthly price suggests. Lite is harder to recommend: 3 automations and 3 landing pages make it a starter plan priced like a mid-tier one.

The catch is cost at scale. Each subscriber tier lifts the bill, and at 2,500 or 5,000 subscribers MailerLite charges less for an entry plan with far more automations. If you are price-led, compare MailerLite and Sender first; if you want a supported, all-in-one setup with selling built in, AWeber Plus earns a look.

Frequently asked questions

How much does AWeber cost in 2026?

AWeber Lite costs $15 a month at 500 subscribers and Plus costs $30, both billed monthly. Paid annually, the same tiers cost $150 and $240 a year. Prices rise with each subscriber tier, and lists of 100,000 or more can ask sales for a quote.

Does AWeber have a free plan?

Yes. AWeber's Free plan covers up to 500 subscribers and 3,000 emails a month. It keeps AWeber branding and leaves out split testing, saved custom segments and behavioral automation. A separate 14-day trial lets you try Lite or Plus first.

Is AWeber worth it compared with MailerLite?

On price, MailerLite usually wins: at 2,500 subscribers its Comfort plan costs $33 a month against $35 for AWeber Lite, and it includes 50 automations instead of 3. AWeber makes more sense on Plus billed annually, which has no caps on automations or landing pages, and for buyers who want 24/7 support.

What is the difference between AWeber Lite and Plus?

Lite caps you at 1 list, 3 landing pages, 3 automations, 3 users and 1 saved segment, and sends ten times your subscriber tier a month. Plus removes all of those caps, sends twelve times your tier, adds advanced reporting and priority support, and lowers the sales fee from 1.0% to 0.6%.

Does the AWeber free trial need a credit card?

Yes. AWeber charges the card on file for the plan you picked when the 14-day trial ends, unless you cancel before that date. If you pass the plan's subscriber or sending limit during the trial, AWeber bills the matching tier straight away.
