Svedka will pay you $500K to film its next ad LINK
- Svedka is asking consumers to make a 15-second commercial for its Vodka Water ready-to-drink cocktail, with the winning entry earning a $500,000 prize and a spot as the brand's next Super Bowl ad.
- Entries go to a microsite until December 1, and the brand is giving people a digital tool kit so ads can be AI-led, low-budget, cinematic or ambitious, with Andy Cohen helping to judge the submissions.
- The contest follows backlash earlier this year over Svedka's AI-made fembot mascot in its first Super Bowl ad, though the brand says Nielsen data ranks it the top volume growth driver in U.S. spirits over the past year.
AI shoppers spend 83% more on your retail site LINK
- Shoppers who arrive at retail sites from AI tools spend 83% more per visit than other visitors, and in September they converted 90% better than non-AI traffic, according to Adobe.
- Visitors from AI sources also spent 73% more time on site and added products to carts at a far higher rate, while AI traffic to U.S. retail sites grew 71% year over year in September.
- Adobe's Citation Readability Score put the average U.S. retail homepage at 63%, meaning over a third of the content wasn't readily understandable to AI systems, with general merchandise homepages scoring just 40%.
OpenAI adds Magnite and PubMatic to buy ChatGPT ads LINK
- OpenAI has reportedly made deals with Magnite and PubMatic, two sell-side advertising firms, to help sell unused ad inventory inside ChatGPT and give marketers more ways to reach the platform.
- The change is in buying infrastructure, not a new ad format: advertisers can use familiar adtech tools to set budgets, submit bids and supply creative, while OpenAI still decides where and how each ad appears.
- Deal terms, available inventory, eligible accounts and supported formats were not disclosed, and the report offers no independent check on measurement, audience duplication or whether the new paths deliver incremental reach.
Meta delays the AI scraping terms publishers fought LINK
- Meta is considering scrapping its planned update to commercial terms of service after publishers and regulators objected to wording that could have let the company scrape the website of any business with a Facebook or Instagram presence.
- Meta says the change was meant to gather data for ad targeting, not scraping, but after legal experts and regulators questioned it, the company pushed the start date from Oct. 20 to Nov. 20 and may now delay it indefinitely.
- The UK's Competition and Markets Authority has opened an investigation into the terms, and the European Publishers Council is weighing next steps, while Meta has posted a copy of the updated terms still marked to take effect on Nov. 20.
Google may route your brand searches out of Performance Max LINK
- Google updated its Performance Max help document to say the campaign type may filter out navigational and brand-specific search queries so that dedicated Search campaigns handle them instead.
- The new paragraph, spotted by Hana Kobzová and not present in the archived version, says brand-related queries get routed to campaigns that offer more precise control over how they are served.
- To capture this traffic, Google recommends giving dedicated brand Search campaigns enough budget and high-quality, eligible ads, and adding Search Themes to the Performance Max campaign.
