🎥 LinkedIn overtakes YouTube for B2B video

- LinkedIn has surpassed YouTube as the main video platform for B2B companies, with 81% of businesses naming it their primary channel versus 76% for YouTube, according to Wistia's 2026 State of Video Report released today.
- LinkedIn's share as top video channel climbed 33 percentage points in two years, and B2B marketers directed 39% of ad budgets to the platform by the second half of 2024, up from 31% earlier that year.
- Social engagement as the top video success metric nearly doubled from 12% to 22%, while only 49% of teams plan to increase video spend in 2026, down from 57%, with 48% raising distribution and promotion budgets instead.

💰 Google explores ads in Gemini app

- Google is considering the introduction of ads inside its Gemini app, with Chief Business Officer Philipp Schindler telling the Q1 2026 earnings call the company is open-minded about monetising the AI assistant.
- The statement marks a shift from December 2025, when Global Ads VP Dan Taylor said there were no plans to add ads, while Google already tests ad formats in AI Overviews and AI Mode for Search.
- In February, OpenAI began testing ads for ChatGPT users on Free and Go plans in the US, keeping Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise, and Education tiers ad-free, with ads selected by conversation context and past interactions.

- Google Ads has rolled out a new Association metric inside Brand Lift Studies, letting advertisers measure whether audiences link their brand to a specific concept, category, or attribute through a survey-style question.
- Unlike recall-based measurement, Association tracks whether consumers tie a brand to positioning ideas such as "premium" or "sustainable," sitting between awareness and consideration in the Brand Lift framework.
- Advertisers remain limited to three Brand Lift metrics per study, so adding Association forces trade-offs against existing KPIs; the update was first spotted by Google Ads expert Thomas Eccel on LinkedIn.
