Lately, a lot of people asked me how to get referrals.
Instead of explaining the same thing to every person, I thought it would be better to write down a post and simply share this link with the interested people.
Therefore, this post will teach you how to advertise your business and how to get referrals in any online business.
Read it carefully because I will be teaching you exactly how I market my links and how I get referrals in various online programs.
There’s no magic tricks and getting referrals it might look hard if you are a beginner, but in reality, it is not. You just need to have a good offer or to promote a good program, and you need a boatload of traffic.
Traffic is everything… If you can’t generate traffic, you won’t get sales or referrals.
So, I managed to get a nice number of referrals into these programs applying the marketing techniques that I will reveal below in this post.
I want you to know that I haven’t posted the following screenshots to brag, but I want you to see real proofs that I know how to get referrals and to market my links. This post is designed to give you a few ideas on how to advertise your business and you can apply the same strategies or purchase paid traffic from the same traffic sources that are working for me.
These numbers are constantly increasing because I promote my links every day, and there might be inaccurate at the date you read this post. These statistics are accurate as at January 1, 2016.

I’m not saying that I’m the best internet marketer and I have the most referrals, because there are also other people with thousands of referrals in these programs, but if we sum up all the programs mentioned above, we get a total of 646 referrals.
And just to let you know, I don’t promote these programs to my friends and family.
My 2 Cents About How To Advertise Your Business
A large part of my referrals are registering from this blog that you are reading right now. Therefore, I can say that blogging is a phenomenal way of getting referrals and to advertise your online business.
Anyone can start a blog using a free platform like blogger.com or wordpress.com. You don’t need programming knowledge or any technical skills. You only register your account and you can start publishing your first post right away.
Later, after you’ve written a few posts and your blog receives some traffic, you can purchase a domain name and a web hosting package and you can move your site to your own copy of WordPress (I also use WordPress for my blog).
But how do I advertise my blog?
You will be surprised to find out that I barely advertise my blog. The only way I promote my blog is by sharing the posts on a few social networks after I publish them.
99% of my blog’s traffic is coming from the search engines (mostly Google).
This means that I get referrals in my business without paying for traffic. How cool is that?
The key for ranking on the first page of Google is Search Engine Optimization (SEO). This means that you need to optimize your articles for specific keywords, to write unique content and to write long posts.
Do not imagine that my blog receives hundreds of thousands of unique visitors per day. At this time, the record of unique visitors per day according to the Jetpack plugin, is only 363 (about 2000 unique visitors per month).
Now, you can make a calculation on how much money you would have to spend on 2000 unique clicks per month using Google Adwords, Bing Ads, Facebook or Solo Ads.
Let’s take the solo ads as an example and say you would pay $0.50 per every click, which is an average price. This is 2000 clicks x $0.50, which results in $1000/month. That much you would need to pay for all these clicks. And this is only highly targeted traffic, not the junk traffic that you could receive from many of the solo ad providers.
Do you see the potential of blogging now? You can advertise your business at no costs if you have your blog on a free platform or at a very low cost if you have a domain name and a web hosting account.
Blogging is not only very effective for advertising your business, but it’s also a very good way of branding yourself and pose yourself as an authority.
When you provide value in your blog posts, people will return periodically to read your blog, and because you gain their trust they will follow you in most of the programs that you’ll promote.
You can use your blog to build an email list and every time you write a blog post or you promote something, you can email your list and again, get free traffic to advertise your business.
AdHitz is an advertising network. You can choose to display your ads on various websites registered within this network or you can display your ads on the entire network, without choosing a specific site where your ads to be displayed.
Most of the sites registered within the AdHitz network are PTC sites or safelists. However, the people who click your ads won’t receive any incentive to do so. They will only click your ads because they are interested in what the banner or the text ad promotes. Even though is cheap, this is high-quality traffic.
AdHitz enables you to choose between 2 forms of advertising: banner ads or text ads. Every site registered as a publisher have its available banner sizes. Some of the publishers want to be paid for a click or a specific period (a day, a week, 30 days). I would advise you to choose to pay for clicks instead of paying for a period because this way you are sure on the number of clicks that you’ll receive.
You can pay as little as $0.02 per click. Just think how much traffic you can get for $100 using AdHitz.
3) Advertising your business on the social networks
There are a lot of social networks where you can promote your business for free. With a little effort every day, you can get free signups, leads or sales by promoting your business on the social networks.
Besides those, there are also other social networks with a lot of potential, but I’m not using those for marketing at this time. Two who are worth mentioning are LinkedIn and Instagram. I’m sure there are more, but I’m only using the ones mentioned above.
Do not just spam other people with your links on the social networks. Instead, use the groups, pages, boards (on Pinterest) where you are allowed to promote business opportunities and referral links. There are a lot of these groups on Facebook and Google+ (for Pinterest, these are called boards).
On Twitter, you just need to follow people that have the same interests as you and a part of them will follow you back.
When you promote something on the social networks, I would advise you to post a screenshot with your results instead general ads like: “Do you want to earn a bunch of money fast? Click here!”.
People like to see results instead of words. I like to see someone’s results instead of getting rich quick promises.
Make sure you also fill out your profile details of all your social network accounts. A lot of successful marketers say that “people join people and not opportunities” and they are usually right. Do you think people will join your link if you don’t have a profile picture and proof that you are a real person?
Before participating in a program, most of the people like to see that their sponsor is trustworthy and they can rely on him if they need further help. Showing that you are a real person and not only an account on a website, but you also gain people’s trust and is more likely that they will join to the programs that you’re promoting.
The social networks are also a great way of branding yourself.
Branding is an essential element of a successful internet marketer. You need to take advantage of every chance of showing your face or your company’s logo.
Besides the free advertising, you can also try the paid advertising on the social networks. I won’t go into details about this, but you get the point.
4) Safelists and Viral Mailers
Safelists and viral mailers are those sites where you agree to receive emails from other members who promote various things online (mostly business opportunities and make money online related stuff).
These sites are working on a credit based system. You need to read other people’s emails and click the links inside their emails to receive advertising credits.
After you collect some credits, you can use these credits to send your emails to other people who’ve also agreed to receive emails from you and other people registered on those sites.
Safelists are a free way of advertising your online business and some safelists even offer a number of free credits at registration or enable you to enter promo codes in order to receive a number of free credits or other advantages.
One of the most popular sites where you can find promo codes for various safelists is trafficcodex.com.
Another way of getting credits in safelists is by becoming a premium member. As a premium member, you’ll receive a number of guaranteed credits per month or week, and you are usually allowed to send an email more often than as a free member.
So, if you are just starting out or you are low on funds, you can use safelists to advertise your links.
5) Traffic Exchange Sites
The traffic exchange sites are very similar to safelists, but instead of sending and opening emails, you need to visit other people’s sites directly within these sites.
The traffic exchange sites are also working based on credits, and you need to visit other websites to earn advertising credits that you can use to promote your links.
Just as the safelists, some of the traffic exchange sites give you a number of free credits after registration or enable you to render promo codes and to earn credits.
If you don’t have the time or patience to surf other sites to earn the advertising credits, you can also purchase credit packages.
6) Advertising on YouTube – Video Blogging
Youtube is the second search engine after Google, and not Bing.
Youtube has become a giant and video marketing is very efficient in promoting products and online programs. In fact, the persons with the most referrals in a lot of programs that I’m in, are in most of the cases people who are making videos for Youtube and who have a solid subscriber base.
Video marketing is similar to blogging, but instead of writing posts, you only make videos. To promote your links, you just need to add them to the description of the video or by using annotations.
If you SEO optimize your Youtube videos a bit, your videos can be displayed in the first search results both in Youtube’s search, but also on the first page of Google’s search results.
Youtube is very powerful, and I intend to focus more on it in the future for promoting my online business.
7) Solo Ads
A Solo Ad is a paid form of advertisement that is sent out to an entire or portion of an email list.
Solo ads are sold by people who have email lists in different niches and they send an email or more to their lists till you get many clicks.
It’s one of the easiest ways of getting traffic to your offers, and if you promote a high-quality offer and you have a high converting opt-in page, you can get some very fast results from a solo ad.
However, unfortunately, there are also all kind of solo ad sellers and not all of them are selling quality traffic. There are a lot of fake solo ad sellers and some of them will send you bot traffic, traffic from outside their email lists (exit pop-ups, safelists, etc.) or they won’t send you any traffic at all and they will run away with your money 🙂 . So, you need to be very carefully who you’re buying solo ads from.
If you are just getting started with the paid traffic, I won’t recommend you to start with solo ads, because if you don’t know what you’re doing, you can waste all your advertising budget very fast, solo ads not being the cheapest form of advertising.
There are a few places where you can find solo ad sellers, such as Udimi, Clickonomy, Warrior Forum Classified Ads, Solo Ads Directory or a few Facebook groups ( Solo Ads Testimonials, Solo Ads Sales Testimonials, Abel’s Solo Ad Marketplace, etc. ).
I usually purchase a solo ad every week. I don’t get good results from every solo ad I purchase, but it’s a very fast way of getting traffic and building an email list.
8) Classified Ads
Posting your ads in the classified ads sites is another form of free advertising.
Although I know some people who are having a real success with this form of advertising, I only rarely use the classified ads to get referrals.
There are a lot of classified ads sites where you can advertise your business online, the most popular being Craigslist.
A simple Google search for “classified ads sites” will give you a lot of this kind of websites.
Some of the classified ads have some strict rules and won’t allow you to post links, or you can only post links if you are a premium member. However, you can just post an email address (register a free Gmail account if you don’t want to receive a lot of spam on your primary email) and tell the people who see your ad send you an email if they want more details about what you promote.
Try to create compelling ad copies without hyping your business and you should be able to get some referrals from classified ads with constant work.
These are my main methods of generating traffic and getting referrals in most of the programs that I promote.
I would advise you to build an email list instead of sending all your traffic directly to your referral links.
As I already said, there are no magic tricks, other than generating traffic and leads.
You don’t have to limit yourself only to my methods since there are countless other methods of generating traffic online and to advertise your online business.
Now you know how to get referrals and how to advertise your business, but it’s up to you to take action and to put into practice what you’ve learned.
